Suna’s Daughters Gather in Şanlıurfa for “The Neighborhoods Supporting Children"

Suna’s Daughters local communities have launched their activities in five neighborhoods of Şanlıurfa’s Eyyübiye and Haliliye districts as part of the " The Neighborhoods Supporting Children" initiative. This initiative aims to create an ecosystem that supports all children, especially girls. These efforts focus on ensuring children can more easily access the support they need and fostering a culture of solidarity within neighborhoods.

The first event in Şanlıurfa was held with the participation of the Teacher Circle. Facilitated by KODA, a participant in the School-Focused Solution Circle, this meeting provided a platform for teachers to share their experiences and discuss community culture. During the event, a community agreement was developed to help teachers address challenges encountered in the field and support their professional development. The process was further enriched with educational games, case studies, and collaborative activity proposals to enhance efficiency.

Public institutions and non-governmental organizations came together in the first meeting of local communities. This session identified the obstacles to children’s holistic development and discussed potential solutions. Special attention was given to the children's primary neighborhood issues, leading to region-specific recommendations tailored to the local dynamics.

A significant aspect of these efforts includes ensuring girls have equal access to education and social life. Local communities aim to support girls in overcoming societal and cultural barriers and contribute to their development as empowered individuals. While fostering a culture of solidarity within neighborhoods, these initiatives also pave the way for an environment where children are supported in every aspect of their lives.
