"Corporate Publishing House of the Year" Award to Pera Museum

The Pera Museum received the "Corporate Publishing House of the Year" award at the "Best of 2023" ceremony organized by Ekonomi Newspaper Kitap Magazine, in recognition of its contributions to literature and publishing. The award was presented to the Pera Museum, which has garnered attention from art lovers for its periodical exhibition and collection catalogues, symposium series, and small book series.

The Best of 2023 Awards, organized for the 31st time this year by the Ekonomi Newspaper Kitap Magazine to support literature and publishing, were presented at a ceremony held at Sofitel Istanbul Taksim. Organized under the leadership of Faruk Şüyün, Editor-in-Chief of Kitap Magazine, 15 awards were given in 14 categories for books published in 2023, and Suna and İnan Kıraç Foundation Pera Museum received the Corporate Publishing House of the Year award.

Özalp Birol, General Manager of Suna and İnan Kıraç Foundation Culture and Art Management received the award together with Exhibitions and Publications Coordinator Zeynep Ögel and Temporary Exhibitions Manager Begüm Akkoyunlu Ersöz.

“A pioneering publishing house with exemplary and lasting works”

The Selection Committee, consisting of Doğan Hızlan, Faruk Şüyün, Metin Celâl, Sevengül Sönmez and Sırma Köksal, used the following statements in the justification of the award that Pera Museum was deemed worthy of: "The 2023 Corporate Publishing House of the Year award was given to the Pera Museum for publishing exemplary and lasting works in the field of art publishing, which has been working as a pioneering publishing house for years, both in terms of quality with its content created through meticulous research and in terms of its care in the quantitative elements such as design, printing and paper required by quality." 

Art lovers can access Pera Museum Publications from the museum's Artshop, artshop.peramuzesi.org.tr and bookstores; they can also read the PDF versions of more than 20 books free of charge from the Digital Publications section of the museum's website.

The kick-off meeting of the international joint research project titled "The role of HTT-Cis variants in the pathogenesis of Huntington's Disease", which was accepted to the joint program for Neurodegenerative Disease Research, was held at Koç University Hospital with the participation of project partners from Germany (University of Bochum), Sweden (Lund University), Czech Republic (University of Prague) and Canada (University of British Columbia).

New Publication! Calculations and Coincidences: Algorithmic Art from the Central Bank of Hungary Collection

Calculations and Coincidences brings together three pioneers of algorithmic art; Vera Molnár, Dóra Maurer and Gizella Rákóczy. The publication accompanying the exhibition features Kinga Rózsa Hamvai's curatorial text and Kerem Ozan Bayraktar's essay, interviews by Hans Ulrich Obrist, and a series of questions by Jon McCormack, Oliver Bown, Alan Dorin, Jonathan Mccabe, Gordon Monro, and Mitchell Whitelaw.
